Stay Puft was the antithesis of the horror monster: adorable, white, smiling, and at the same time genuinely destructive on the scale of Manhattan buildings. It was Ghostbusters' most specific joke — that the choice of savior made the threat, and that the threat was something everyone had eaten in childhood.
